Episode ThemeGod-Worshiping: Grace.
All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
How good are you? How many good kids could you find in your neighborhood? Not just kinda good, but good enough to stand before God? Abraham once had to do just that...find enough good people.
Here's the scoop: One day God came to visit with Abraham. God told Abraham that he was sending two messengers to destroy two wicked cities: Sodom and Gomorrah. Uh-oh, thought Abraham, my nephew Lot and his family live there. I have to do something quick!
"God?" asked Abraham. "What if when you get to these cities, you find 50 righteous people there? Will you still destroy it?"
Uh-oh, thought Abraham, I don't think there are that many good people living in these cities. "God, what if there are only 30? Will you destroy it?"
Uh-oh, thought Abraham, 30 good people-no way. "God, what about 10?"
Hmmm, thought Abraham, let's count. Lot, his wife, two daughters...surely there had to be 6 more good people somewhere in those cities?
Do you know the answer? No! God destroyed both cities for their wickedness. Only Lot and his two daughters were not killed.
What about you? Are you good enough for God to notice and to save you? That is a trick question! No one is good enough for God. Romans 3:23 says "Everyone has sinned. No one measures up to God's glory." Every one of us deserves the same punishment as Sodom and Gomorrah.
Good thing Romans goes on to say, "The free gift of God's grace makes all of us right with him. Christ Jesus paid the price to set us free. God gave him as a sacrifice to pay for sins. So God forgives the sins of those who have faith in Christ's blood." Are you good enough for God? If you believe in Jesus, the answer is YES!
