Servant- Working: Courage in obedience

Memory Verse

Esther 4:14

And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?

Courage is so cool to watch happen in someone else. It's exciting to see the Nice Kid finally stand up to the Big Bad Bully. When the bully backs down, and the nice kid wins, you feel good inside. Or, in the movie Wizard of Oz, when the lion is searching and searching for someone to give him courage, and he finally realizes that he already has courage inside of him, that's cool.

Queen Esther had courage when she went to see the king. She knew that if the king was in a bad mood and didn't want to see her, he could order that she be put to death. She also knew she had to ask the king to change his mind. Can you imagine asking a king to change his mind? She needed to ask the king to not kill all of the Jews, Esther included, as he had already promised to do. That took lots of courage.

Do you have courage inside you? Do you know what the remedy is for feeling more like a lion in search of some courage than a Christian with God's strength? Follow Queen Esther's lead. She admitted she was scared to go see the king. She asked her cousin to have all of the Jews fast for her, so she wasn't alone. Then, she just did it. She knew, whatever happened to her, going to see the king was the right thing to do. It was what God wanted her to do.

Do you need more courage in your life? If so, have someone you trust pray for you. Ask God yourself for courage. Trust in God's strength, and experience the thrill of courage!
