Memory Verse

Acts 16:31

Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.

What if it was you? What would you do if you were the jailer in charge of two prisoners named Paul and Silas?

Imagine that you are an ordinary person whose job is to be in charge of the local jail. You do your job well because you know that if a prisoner ever escapes, the officials will kill you as punishment. One day two beaten bloody men are brought to your jail. You are told, "The judges are very angry with these two men. Guard them carefully!"

You put these two criminals into the very most inner cell you have. You fasten their feet in stocks. There's no way these prisoners will ever escape from your jail. Every hour you check on them, just to make sure.

These two men are strange. What are they doing? They are praying to their God and singing songs about someone named Jesus. You listen to their words. You wonder about Jesus before you fall asleep at the jail.

Suddenly, a violent earthquake shakes the entire jail. The prison doors fly open. The chains on the prisoners fall off. You wake up. You see all the doors open. You figure that every prisoner has escaped. You are in so much trouble that you decide to kill yourself with your sword. But hear a voice. The voice is saying, "Don't hurt yourself! We are all here!" The voice belongs to Paul.

You rush to their cell. You fall down before them. What do you say? You ask, "What must I do to be saved?"

Paul answers you, "Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved." That very night you and your entire family become Christians.

What is the most important question that anyone can ever ask? It's the jailer's question: What must I do to be saved? The answer-believe in Jesus-is what thousands of people need to hear. Give the answer-believe in Jesus-to someone today!
