Episode ThemeCommunity-Building: A real friend.
There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.
We all want a friend. We all want to be someone's friend. But how? How do you make a new friend? How do you keep a friend? How do you tell a true friend from an imposter looking to cause trouble?
The best place to turn for help is the Bible. What does the Bible say about being a friend? Here are some Bible verses about friendship:
Two people are better than one. They can help each other in everything they do. Suppose someone falls down. Then his friend can help him up. But suppose the man who falls down doesn't have anyone to help him up. Then feel sorry for him! Ecclesiastes 4: 9-10
A friend loves at all times. He is there to help when trouble comes. Proverbs. 17:17
Even a man who has many companions can be destroyed. But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs. 18: 24
Don't desert your friend or your father's friend. Proverbs. 27: 10
Jesus said, "Here is my command. Love each other, just as I have loved you. No one has greater love than the one who gives his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command." John 15: 1-15
What does this mean to you? Be loving. Be kind. Be wise. Be forgiving. Be like Jesus. Treat your friends with the same love Jesus gives to you. Can't do it alone? You don't have to. Your friend Jesus will gladly help whenever you ask. If Jesus is your best friend, he will guide all of your other friendships!
