Justice-Seeking: Not getting what's deserved.

Memory Verse

Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Have you ever tried to explain about Jesus and not known what to say? Here's a picture to draw and a story to tell:

Draw two cliffs with a big gap between them. Put a stick figure person on one cliff and "GOD" on the other. All people start out on the first cliff. We want to get to God, but there is a huge chasm that prevents us from getting there: that chasm is our sin! Some people try to get to God by doing lots of good things for other people-but doing good things can't bridge that huge chasm of sin. There is nothing that we can do that is big enough or strong enough to make a bridge over the sin chasm. We are cut off from God, and there's nothing we can do to fix it.

That's why Jesus came. He is the only one who can bridge the chasm of sin. He gave his life to pay for our sin and to make a bridge to God. Draw a cross in the gap with the two arms of the cross connecting the two cliffs. We now have access to God through Jesus! We can go right across Jesus' bridge and enter the very presence of God.

What do we need to do? Nothing but believe. Romans 5 says "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! . . . We rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation." "And Acts 16:31 tells us to "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved."

Rejoice today! You are officially a child of God and a brother or sister of Christ Jesus. Nothing can ever separate you from the love of our Savior! If you haven't crossed that bridge and belong to God's family, see our Good News page to find out how you can do this today.
