Bible Food Trivia! How much do you know?
Question 1: What did the Israelites eat for the 40 years that they were living in the wilderness?
Question 2: What was John the Baptist famous for eating?
Question 3: Here is a list of animals. According to the Old Testament of the Bible, which are "clean" or permitted to be eaten?
Fish Camel Eagle Deer
Rabbit Rat Pig Lizard
Hawk Sheep Owl Grasshopper
Here are the answers:
The Israelites ate manna, which were thin flakes that tasted like honey wafers and were used as bread. They also ate small birds called quail. John the Baptist dined on honey and locust, which are grasshoppers. The clean animals include fish, grasshoppers, sheep, and deer. Can you imagine trying to eat a camel?
God was so interested in His people, the Israelites, that He even provided food for them. There was no other food available in the wilderness so for 40 years so God provided absolutely everything the Israelites ate. To keep the Israelites a holy people, God also told them what foods to eat and what foods to avoid. But food wasn't all that God cared about. He knew exactly what the Israelites needed-from food and shelter to safety and love-and He enjoyed giving to the Israelites both what they needed and what they wanted.
God hasn't changed. He is still interested in the details of our lives: what we eat, what we worry about, what makes us happy. God cares about what you do and who you are because He loves you. Today, tell God about the details of your life. He can't wait to hear all about it!
