Kidnapped (Part 2)

Episode Theme

God-Worshiping: God the stronghold.

Memory Verse

Psalm 27:1

The LORD is my light and my salvation - whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid?

What scares you? If you've ever been scared, you should meet Daniel and Esther. They know all about being scared.

Daniel was a trusted servant of the king. Some other servants hated Daniel because the king trusted him. They wanted to get rid of Daniel. Their plan was simple because they watched Daniel. They knew that every single day, he prayed to God. So they made a law that said everyone could only pray to the king. If a person was caught praying to anyone other than the king, he would be thrown into a den full of hungry lions. Daniel heard about the new law. It was time for him to pray to God. Was he scared? What would you do if you were Daniel?

Esther was the new queen, but she also had a secret. Her husband didn't know she was Jewish when he signed a law saying that all Jews living in his country could legally be killed. The king also had a real mean streak. Once, when the former queen didn't do exactly what he wanted, he banished her forever. Esther knew if she didn't go to the king and ask him to change the law, her people would be killed. But if she went to the king and he was in a bad mood, he might kill her. Either way, she could die. Was she scared? What would you do if you were Esther?

Sometimes, being scared and alone makes being scared even scarier. Daniel chose to pray to God. He wasn't alone anymore. He was with God. When Daniel was thrown into the lion's den, he wasn't alone then either. God sent an angel to protect Daniel from the lions. Esther asked all the Jews to pray for her before she went to see the king. Armed with all these prayers, she talked to the king and saved her people.

Scary things are scary. But don't ever face them alone. Ask others to pray for you. Tell God that you are scared. When you tell God, he promises to be with you, and that's enough to drive away any fear!
