Lost and Found (Part 1)

Episode Theme

God-Worshiping: God celebrates when the lost are found.

Memory Verse

Luke 15: 31, 32

“‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”

Have you ever lost something? What did you do? Did you search for it frantically? How did you feel when you lost it? How did you feel when you were searching for it? How did you feel when you finally found it? Jesus used these feelings to teach about the kingdom of God.

Jesus told a story about a shepherd who has 100 sheep. He counts his sheep. He realizes that one sheep is missing. What does he do? He leaves the 99 other sheep alone while he searches and searches for that one lost sheep. He looks until he finds it. Then he puts the sheep on his shoulders and heads for home. He calls all his friends and neighbors and says, "Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep!" (Luke 15: 6

Jesus told another story about a woman who has 10 silver coins. She loses one of them. She searches her entire house. She does not stop until she finds that missing coin. Then she calls her friends and neighbors and says, "Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin." (Luke 15: 9

Jesus also told the story of a son who asks for (and receives) money from his father. After the son gets the money, he leaves. He foolishly spends all the money. When the son finally returns to his father's house, his father is excited. His father celebrates with a big party. The father says to everyone, "My son was lost and now is found." (Luke 15: 32

Do you ever wonder if God really knows who you are? The answer is yes! God knows you. When you became a Christian, God was so excited that He invited all of heaven to celebrate with Him. Imagine-all of heaven rejoicing that you have been found! Yes, God knows you! Yes, God loves you!
