Lost and Found (Part 2)

Episode Theme

God-Worshiping: God celebrates when the lost are found.

Memory Verse

Luke 15: 31, 32

"My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”

Time for a contest between two brothers. See if you can decide which brother deserves the "Worst Son Award!" Here are the two contestants:

Brother #1: This younger brother grew up on a large farm. One day he asked his father to give him his share of the family property-in money. After his father died, the son would have been given some of his father's property and money. But, the son wanted his inheritance before his father was even dead. Greedy.

The father actually gave him the money. The younger brother packed up and moved to another country, leaving his older brother to take care of their father and the farm. Selfish. In this new country, the younger son wasted all his money on wild living. He spent every penny his father had given to him. Foolish.

After he ran out of money and was feeding pigs just to get some food, he returned home. He admitted that he had sinned against his father. His father joyfully welcomed him back. Rescued.

Brother #2: Not much is known about this brother. Every day he helped his father tend to the farm and their animals. He always obeyed his father's words. He worked hard. Respectful.

On the day his younger brother returned, he was out in the fields, working. When he heard how his father welcomed his brother, he felt angry. Why should his father have anything to do with that rascal? His father had never thrown a lavish party for him. Why would his father do this? Jealousy. Pouting.

Who won? Actually, in God's eyes, sin is sin. That means that both brothers were equal in their sin. Even though the older brother's sin was on the inside and the younger brother did many sins, they both needed their father's forgiveness. It's the same for us. Today, ask God to forgive your sinful feelings and actions. You'll feel like a new person!
