How did you do? Patrick was born in Britain sometime in the late 300s into a wealthy family. At age 16, he was kidnapped and taken to Ireland to work as a shepherd. It was during this time, he dedicated his life to God. After 6 years of being a slave, he escaped and made his way back to his family in Britain. He began religious training to prepare himself to become a priest for God. Then he traveled back to Ireland with two purposes. His first job would be to help and to minister to the small number of Christians already living in Ireland. His second purpose was to tell other Irish people about God's love through Christ.
There are some "tall tales" about things that Patrick may have done while living in Ireland. Driving out snakes is a legend that someone created. March 17 may be the date of Patrick's death, but it is used to celebrate his life for God!
What about you? God may not be calling you to travel to some far off country, but he may be calling you to help other Christians at your school. Or he may be calling you to tell people at your school about Jesus' saving love. Will you be like Patrick and answer God's call with a "Yes!"?
