There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.
What would you do for love? What would you give up for someone that you love? Have you ever thought about how much God gave up for love?
God created a perfect world, full of light and life. There was no pain, death, or sadness. He also created people with the ability to choose right or wrong. Adam and Eve, who lived in this perfect Garden that God made for them, chose to disobey God. Their choice brought sin into our world. Their disobedience, and ours, separated us from God.
Why are we so far from God? Because we are sinners. God is perfect. We are sinful. A perfect God cannot stand sin. Our sin cuts us off completely from God. It is sad for us to be so far from God.
God is also sad to be separated from us because he loves us so much. God could have chosen to abandon us or to destroy our broken world. But he loved us too much. So God decided to remove the separation between us. The only way to remove that separation caused by sin was to have his dearly loved Son, Jesus, die on the cross, taking our sin on himself and becoming the way to God.
How can we ever repay God? We can’t. We can gratefully thank God, worship him, and remember what he gave up just for us. Here’s a verse that will help you remember what God did for us and why: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) Use this verse to celebrate God’s love for you today!
