Never Give Up

Episode Theme

Image-Reflecting: Trying to be perfect.

Memory Verse

Philippians 1:6

I am sure that the One who began a good work in you will carry it on until it is completed. That will be on the day Christ Jesus returns.

Have you ever wanted to give up? Have you ever wished you could just walk away? Time for a quiz on Bible people who should have given up:

Question 1: Who spent years building a huge boat with no where to sail it? (Genesis 6-7)

Question 2: Who still hoped to have a child even though he was 100 years old and his wife 90 years old? (Genesis 21)

Question 3: Who watched her husband, brother-in-law, and father-in-law die and then decided to move to a foreign country with her mother-in-law? (Ruth 1)

Question 4: Who pretended not to know Jesus 3 times the very night before Jesus was crucified-and Jesus knew he did it? (Luke 22: 54-62)

How did you do? Noah didn't give up. He followed God's instructions to build the ark and he didn't stop working until his family and the animals were safely on board and the rain began falling. Abraham kept on believing God's promise of a son. God gave Abraham and Sarah their son Isaac after they waited until they were very old. Ruth said she would not leave her mother-in-law Naomi alone but would follow her and take care of her, no matter what. Peter denied that he was a Christ follower 3 times in the hours before Jesus' death. But he didn't give up following Jesus and after his resurrection, Jesus took Peter back and used him to spread his kingdom.

What did these Bible people have in common? They all had received promises from God, promises that seemed to take a long time for God to deliver. But none of them gave up waiting for God. God's timing may seem slow to us now, but it's always perfect timing. If you are waiting on God for an answer, don't give up. God never gives up!
