Servant-Working: Never give up

Memory Verse

Hebrews 12:1

Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

Have you ever had to do something really hard? Something so hard that you wanted to quit, to give up, to run away? Time for a quiz on Bible people who didn't give up!

Question 1: He spent years building a big boat because God told him to build it. He was mocked by all of his neighbors. (Genesis 6)

Question 2: God promised him a baby boy, but he had to wait until he was 100 years old for his son to be born. (Genesis 21)

Question 3: She was desperate to have a child of her own. Each year she traveled to the tabernacle to cry out to the Lord. (1 Samuel 1)Question 4: He started out arresting Christians. After meeting Jesus he traveled the world to tell people about Jesus. Along the way he was arrested, beaten, even stoned. (Acts 9)

How did you do? Noah was faithful to God's command to build the ark-no matter how often his neighbors teased him. When the ark was finally finished, the rains came. Only those aboard the ark were saved. Abraham was 100 years old before the son God promised was born to his wife Sarah. Hannah had no children at all. She was praying so hard that the priest noticed her. He told her she would have a son. She named her son Samuel, and he became a great priest for God. Saul (or Paul) hurt a lot of Christians. After he became a Christian, he was hurt a lot. He never gave up telling people about our Savior Jesus.

What about you? The next time you are in the middle of doing something hard, think about Noah, Abraham, Hannah, or Paul. They didn't quit, but they didn't do it alone. They all cried out to God for help. God helped each one of them, and God promises to help you too. That's a promise you can count on!
