Episode ThemeCommunity-Building: God gives different gifts to accomplish his work.
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists and some to be pastors and teachers to prepare God's people for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up.
It's time for a quick Bible quiz. Can you match the following Bible people with the sentences that each said?
1. DanielA. "The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion will deliver me from the hand of Goliath the Philistine." (I Samuel 17: 37)2. MiriamB. "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you. I will feed your lambs." (John 21: 15)3. PeterC. "My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me because I was found innocent in God's sight." (Daniel 6: 22)4. DavidD. "Do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you." (Genesis 45: 5)5. JosephE. "I will sing to the Lord, for he is highly exalted. The horse and its rider he has hurled into the sea." (Exodus 15:1)
How did you do? Daniel reported that God sent his angel to save him in the lion's den. Miriam sang a song of praise after the Israelites had safely crossed the Red Sea. Peter told Jesus that he loved Jesus and would shepherd the Christian church. David was positive that God would save him from Goliath. Joseph told his brothers that God used their selling Joseph as a slave to save them from starving. The words of all these Bible people displayed their close relationship with God.
Words. They are so simple and pass so easily from our mouth. Yet, our words show the true us: what we think and value, what we love and hate. God wants to be seen through our words. Today, will your words show the light of Christ or will they reflect something else? Make your words work for the glory of God!
