God-worshiping: Ask and Pray.

Memory Verse

Philippians 4:6,7

Do not worry about anything!  Instead, tell God about everything.  Ask and pray.  Give thanks to him.  Then God's peace will watch over your hearts and your minds because you belong to Christ Jesus.

God is not a genie or Santa Claus. Sometimes we pray for what we want not what we need. Just because we pray for something doesn’t mean that our desire should be given to us. God does respond to prayer. But He does it in four different ways.

"I can't hear you."  According to Psalm 66:18 and Isaiah 5, there is sin in our lives, so the Lord can’t hear us when we pray. We need to step back and see what we are doing wrong.

"No." Sometimes the Lord says "No" when we pray. That’s really hard to hear. Sometimes we don’t understand the decisions of our parents, our friends and others; sometimes we don’t understand God’s decisions. God has a purpose for saying “No”.

"Wait." We don’t like this answer either. God is in control. It’s not our time; it’s His time. We need to see that God is working out His plan for His people.

"Yes." Prayer makes a difference.  God listens and acts.
