God-Worshiping: Not fearing death because Christ has overcome!

Memory Verse

1 Corinthians 15:54

Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”

Death. It's a scary word. What happens after someone dies? The Bible talks about several unusual ways that believers have "died." Here are some examples:

Enoch (Gen. 5) didn't just live, he walked with God. One day he couldn't be found because "God took him from this life."

When Moses was about to die, he and God went up a mountain to look at the promised land. Then Moses died, and "the Lord buried the body of Moses...To this day, no one knows where the grave is." (Deuteronomy 34

When Elijah was ready to die, he and his helper Elisha went for a long walk together. "Suddenly, a chariot and horses appeared. Fire was all around them. The chariot and horses came between the two men. Then Elijah went up to heaven in a strong wind." (II Kings 2)

When Jesus was hanging on the cross, one of the men also being crucified asked Jesus to "remember me when you come into your kingdom." Jesus answered the man, "Today, you will be with me in paradise."
(Luke 23)

What happens after we die? If we are Christians, we will live with Jesus forever. Jesus even told the disciples "in God's house are many rooms. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." (John 14)

Living with Jesus in God's sadness....being surrounded by the glory of the Lord...that's what happens after death for those who walked in faith!
