Memory Verse

Psalm 119:35

Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.

Have you ever had to make a hard decision?  How did you choose what to do?  Time for a Bible Quiz on decisions!

Question 1:  After God told Cain what was wrong with Cain’s sacrifice, Cain had a decision to make.  Should he change the way he sacrificed or blame his brother Abel?  What did he choose?

Question 2:  After God told Jonah to travel to Ninevah to preach to some nasty people, Jonah had a decision to make:  should he obey or not?  What did Jonah do?

Question 3:  Saul faced a huge decision on the road to Damascas:  should he continue to hunt for Christians or should he become one of them?  What did Saul choose?

How did you do?  Cain opted for blaming and murdering Abel over thinking about why God wasn’t pleased with Cain’s original sacrifice.  This choice led to Cain being sent away from his parents and being afraid for his life.  Jonah chose to run as far from Ninevah as he could.  After he spent some time in a large fish, thinking about God, Jonah did choose to go to Ninevah.  Saul chose Jesus immediately and became the most famous missionary and Christian writer ever!

So how do you make decisions?  Ask yourself which choice will honor God.  Ask yourself which choice would Jesus make if this decision were his to make.  Hide God’s words in your heart to give you wisdom.  Psalm 119 says “Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I will find delight.”  Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your thinking, your heart, and your decision.  Ask other Christians for their counsel.  Ask God for wisdom—with God helping you decide, you’ll find true delight in your choices!
