Theme: Raising Our Children in Community
Read over the July 2014’s Parent Article, " Raising Our Children in Community" . Read Deuteronomy 6:7 Something to think about: How are you as a parent modeling your faith to your children? Who else are your children's Christian role models?
Living Books- Have your child meet with a grandparent or older member of your church. Open up a free dialogue between the two with a set of questions that you and your child create. Have all participants read through the questions beforehand, but be open to new questions as well.
Five Mentors- As a family, choose five people who would be good Christian mentors for your children. You could choose some different and some the same for each child in your family. As a parent, intentionally ask each mentor to fulfill the role. Find an opportunity for an informal time to connect.
Service Project- Choose a service project or home project in which your whole family can participate or explore some service work that the men and boys could do together and that the women and girls could do together. Find ways to intentionally work together.
Proverbs 22:6 Teach children in a way that fits their needs, and even when they are old, they will not leave the right path.
