Theme: Trust and Obey
Have you ever had to trust in God’s Word? Really trust God—when you were scared or alone?
Gideon was weak, scared, and chosen by God to save God’s people! Each time Gideon was nervous, he did three things: told God, trusted God, and obeyed God. Read about Gideon in Judges 6-7.
Memorize and sing the chorus to “Trust and Obey” by John Sammis and Daniel Towner (in 1887)--Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus than to trust and obey.
Create a picture of trusting and obeying God by having one person wear a blindfold and another person guide the blindfolded person through an obstacle course by talking. We can’t see the future, but God is always close and ready to guide us step by step—we just need to trust him and obey his words.
The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. Sing praises to the LORD, enthroned in Zion; proclaim among the nations what he has done.
