Reflect

In this episode, a new kid who looked different showed up at school. Skink and the other bullies made fun of him. But Liz and Lucille found a way to show him friendship.

How can you know if you are valuing somebody? Ask yourself this question: Do I love them? This isn’t the mushy, romantic love. It’s valuing other people and making sure you treat them the way you would want to be treated yourself. It’s making sure you never do anything that will cause them harm (Romans 13:9-10). Before you say something to someone, stop and think, “Would I want someone to say that to me?” Think of ways you can make the day better for everyone you meet.

Want to dig deeper into what the Bible says about valuing others? Check out Matthew 25:35-40; Romans 12:10 and 1 Peter 3:8 and see what Jesus says about serving others.

Challenge

How can you make the day better for everyone you meet? Of course you can help people with big projects, like yard work or moving or shopping. But there are some simple ways too.

  • When you pass someone, smile and say hello.
  • When someone talks to you, listen carefully. Don’t just think about what you’re going to say next.
  • If you hear people saying mean things about someone, stick up for the person and don’t join in.

What else can you do to make other people’s days better?
