Reflect

In this episode, the swamp scared Liz, Spike, and Cole, but Mr. Harper helped Liz see that the sounds of the swamp were beautiful. These sounds even helped Mr. Harper heal the painful memories of his lost friend. One thing we can learn from this episode is that whether it’s a swamp, a desert, or the tundra, God’s got a plan for each part of his creation, and he uses each part for his good work. God does not make junk. A second thing for us to learn is that God’s creation introduces us to him! Mr. Harper would sit and listen to the swamp sounds. The swamp was a place that helped him “see” God’s good work.

Challenge

Take a walk with your family at a local nature area. At some point in the walk, find a place to sit and see how God reveals himself in his creation. All nature sings to its Creator—the sight of a flower, the sound of birds, and the feeling of the breeze. In being still, focus on the creation—the sight, sound, touch, smell (and perhaps even taste). Feel the temperature of the air on your skin, the feeling of the breeze and the sun. Notice the sounds around you. Listen to the symphony of nature. What does nature tell you about who God is? Pray and thank God for all that he has made.
