Episode Theme: The creation is broken.

1. Romans 5:12 talks about sin entering the world. What is sin?

2. Genesis 3 tells the sad story of how sin first came into the world. Both Adam and Eve made a choice to disobey God. Then they hid from God, ashamed of what they had done. They had broken their relationship with God, and that brokenness separated them from God. Sin breaks. Sin destroys. Sin hurts. Sin separates. You can see sin all around the world, and you can see how sin makes things bad. However, there’s good news! God has promised to redeem this world, a promise that goes all the way back to Genesis 3:15.

As you listen to this episode, think about the different ways that you can see that sin has affected the world.

Memory Verse

After You Listen

The Outbreak in this story represents the outbreak of sin in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3). Since then sin has messed up everything. Worst of all, sin separates us from God. But God wasn’t willing to leave his good creation under sin’s control. God promises to bring his creation back to the perfection found in the Garden. The first time we see this promise mentioned is in Genesis 3:15. The enemy (Satan, represented by the serpent) will fight against God, but in the end God’s son Jesus will win. That is the good news of the Bible. Jesus is the central character of God’s Epic Story.
