Reflect

The Outbreak in this story represents the outbreak of sin in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3). Since then sin has messed up everything. Worst of all, sin separates us from God. But God wasn’t willing to leave his good creation under sin’s control. God promises to bring his creation back to the perfection found in the Garden. The first time we see this promise mentioned is in Genesis 3:15. The enemy (Satan, represented by the serpent) will fight against God, but in the end God’s son Jesus will win. That is the good news of the Bible. Jesus is the central character of God’s Epic Story.

Challenge

Make a list of at least ten examples of the effects of sin. Your list could include things in your environment, your community, or in yourself. At dinner show your family your list, and explain how you think each example shows sin’s effects.
