Episode Theme: The golden rule.

1. Matthew 7:12 tells us how we are supposed to treat other people. Have you ever been in charge of something? How did it go? Did other people do what you wanted them to do?

2. The Bible tells us that we should love others the same way we love ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39). That means treating others as you would like to be treated. As you listen to this episode, think of situations where you care about how you are treated. When you make a mistake, do you want your mistakes laughed at or forgiven? When you are hurting, do you want your hurts dismissed or met with understanding?

Memory Verse

“Treat others as you want them to treat you. This is what the Law and the Prophets are all about.”

After You Listen

In this episode, Liz learns that he should treat his teacher the way he wants to be treated. We call this “The Golden Rule?” Have you ever heard of this rule? Do you know what it means?

This rule comes from Jesus. Jesus was preaching about the kingdom of heaven to a big crowd of people. Jesus said, “Treat others as you want them to treat you. This is what the Law and the Prophets are all about.” (Matthew 7:12).

Ephesians 4:32 helps explain this rule. “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” God is kind and compassionate and forgiving with you, and you are to show the same to others. It’s not only the way you want to be treated, it’s the way God has already treated you!

When you are with friends, teachers, adults, or kids you don’t know or don’t like, remember how God treats you: with respect, with honesty, with forgiveness, and with love. Make sure your words and actions to others always reflect this.
