Episode Theme: Being an imitator.

1. Who is your hero? How do you show it? How does your hero “follow God’s example” and “walk in the way of love” (Ephesians 5:1-2a)?

2. If someone was to imitate you, what would that look like? How would they dress? How would they talk? What sort of things would they do? In 1 Corinthians 11:1, Paul tells believers in Corinth to imitate him, because he is imitating Christ. If people imitated you, would they also be imitating Jesus? As you listen to this episode, think about you imitate Jesus.

Memory Verse

After You Listen

Have you ever imitated someone else like Scooter did in this episode? Why did you do it? Most people imitate others for one of two reasons: either to make fun of them, or because they really want to be like them. What does imitation have to do with being a Christian? A lot!

The word Christian came from some unkind people in the town of Antioch; they wanted to mock people who actually believed in the risen Christ, so they called them “Christians,” and the name stuck!

Why did the early Christians keep the name when it was supposed to be a put down? Why do we keep the name today? Two reasons: Christian reminds us that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah who brings us back to God. Christian also reminds us that not only do we believe in Jesus as our Savior, but that we belong to him!

What’s the best way to live as a Christian? Imitation! Imitate Jesus. Paul said, “Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love” (Ephesians 5:1-2a). Being a Christian means believing in, belonging to, and being like Jesus Christ! What a great word Christian is!
