Episode Theme: Friendship and love.

1. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “There is a time for everything...” What do you think that means? How would you explain that in your own words?

2. In John 2:2-4, we read about a wedding that Jesus attended. It was early in his ministry, and most people didn’t know who he was yet. At the wedding, the host ran out of wine to drink. Mary, Jesus’ mother, told Jesus about the problem. She wanted him to perform a miracle (which he did), but she also wanted him to make a big show. But how did he reply to her? He said, “My hour has not yet come.” Jesus wasn’t there for a show. He was following the will of his father, and it wasn’t the proper time for him yet. As we read this story, it’s a good reminder that God has a plan and a time for everything. No matter how badly we want to rush his plans, he knows best. We need to wait for him. Think about God’s timing as you listen to today’s episode.

Memory Verse

After You Listen

In this episode, Morrie had a crush on a girl named Maureen. He was afraid to approach her, so he asked Liz for help. When he found out that Maureen liked Liz more than she liked him, he was angry and wanted to fight Liz.

In 2 Peter 3:8-9 Peter wrote, “with the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” That means that God sees the big picture. He knows the future and everything that will happen. He’s patient and waits until exactly the right time to put his plans into motion. We should also be patient and wait for his timing. In the meantime, he has promised, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). We can always trust him to do the right thing at the right time.

Next Question

Walk around your room (carefully) looking only through a paper towel or toilet paper tube. It's hard to only see a little bit of the world at a time! It makes you want to move the tube around quickly to try to get a bigger picture. This is the way human beings see time: just a little bit, moment by moment. It makes a big difference when you take the tube away, doesn't it? God sees all of time together. Remember the next time you are frustrated that things are not happening the way you want them to, that you are looking through a tube, and God sees the whole picture. You can trust him to guide you.
