A famous scientist has come to Reptarium Middle School to teach, but none of the kids can figure out what’s happening in the classroom. How will the gang respectfully talk to a teacher when he is the problem?Play Episode
Episode Theme: Talking to adults respectfully
1. Think about a time when you spoke the right words at the right time. What happened because of those words?
2. In John 13, Jesus’ disciples didn’t want to wash each other’s feet. Feet are smelly, and after a dusty day outside, they need a good cleaning. Washing feet was a servant’s job. But Jesus taught the disciples about honoring other people by being a servant. He washed everyone’s feet. The story says: “After Jesus had washed his disciples' feet and had put his outer garment back on, he sat down again. Then he said: ‘Do you understand what I have done? You call me your teacher and Lord, and you should, because that is who I am. And if your Lord and teacher has washed your feet, you should do the same for each other. I have set the example, and you should do for each other exactly what I have done for you’”(John 13:12-16). Your place in God’s story is to hear Jesus’ call to serve. Don’t just say that you are a Christian. You can show that you are a Christian by using respectful words and by treating others as more important than you. As you listen to this episode, think about how the world would be very different if everyone did that!
“The right word at the right time is like precious gold set in silver.”Proverbs 25:11 CEV
In this episode, the gang had to find a way to respectfully tell an adult about the problems that he was causing for them. Think about the different people in your life. Each of these people is created in the image of God. “The image of God” is not about what someone looks like. Each person can show you a little bit of what God is like. And you get to know God better with every person you meet. So what do you do with that information? You can start with respect. Everyone has a special quality or ability given by God. That means every person has value. That includes you too! Don’t think that you are better than other people. When you talk to other people, you should fill your talk with humility, care, trust and respect.
