Episode Theme: Bad company corrupts good character.

1. Proverbs 12:26 says, “The righteous choose their friends carefully.” How did you choose your friends? Do you you have common hobbies? Do you believe the same things? Do you like the same sports teams or TV shows or books? How would you choose a new friend?

2. Good friends will help you. But 1 Corinthians 15:33 warns, “Bad friends will destroy you.” You can be a bad friend or a good friend. God wants you to display good character. When people see you pointing to God, they want to be like him too. Do you think you and your friends are pointing others to God?

After You Listen

In this episode, Spike recognizes that the conditions that Cole puts on their friendship make him a bad friend.

In the Bible, Job lost everything. Job’s three friends came over to comfort him, but all they did was blame God for all of Job's problems. They made long speeches trying to convince Job that God must be punishing him for something he had done wrong. But Job knew his friends weren't pointing to God. He even called them “miserable comforters” (Job 16:2). He trusted God instead of listening to his friends. God told them, “I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has” (Job 42:7). Job was able to stand up to bad friends. Can you?
