Let's Get Started

Episode Theme: Our actions are one way we can show God to the world.

1. Colossians 3:12 says to, “Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Why does the author use the word “clothe”? What do each of these words mean: compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience?

2. In Luke 10:26-37, Jesus tells a story to show how you can love your neighbor . As you read the story, you might expect the first two men to help the bleeding man at the side of the road. Jesus’s audience thought that way too. They were shocked when a Samaritan showed the dying man the most love. Read the Parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:26-37. Think about how the Samaritan showed love as you listen to today’s program.

Memory Verse

“Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience”

After You Listen

What makes a person unhappy and mean? In this episode, that's what happened with Johnny. He lost his pet bird, and it made him an angry boy and a bitter man. He was angry with God, and this caused him to be angry and impatient with other people too.

When bad things happen, you first might be angry or bitter. It doesn't have to be that way. Train yourself in the Spirit so that you show your trust in God's goodness. Let God shine through you. Know and believe that God dearly loves you and show others that love of God. Then you reflect his image to the world around you.

Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.” What a powerful statement! God made us like himself. Be a reflection of what God is like!

Next Question

Draw or print out a picture of a mirror. Think about what people see when God is reflected in your life.

For example:

  • Waiting cheerfully in line.
  • Saying hello and smiling to people in school.
  • Smiling when we work together with someone who is not our favourite person.

On the “glass” portion, write your ideas. Then write out the verse from Colossians 3:12 on the handle. Display on your fridge as a reminder to be an image-reflector!
